- Product import (catalog data, attributes, specs)
- Price import (frequent regional price updates)
About project
GOST is a leading Ukrainian construction materials marketplace that connects manufacturers directly with buyers. Artjoker helped GOST turn strong offline expertise into a scalable online building materials marketplace — built to support rapid partner onboarding, regional pricing accuracy, and long-term SEO growth.
We delivered two core components: a customer-facing website and a partner/admin panel. Together, they streamline daily operations for manufacturers and make it easy for customers to search, compare, and purchase products from trusted suppliers.
What makes this platform stand out:
- Region-specific catalogs and pricing (so users always see the correct assortment and costs)
- Partner-friendly import flows with status tracking and clear error reports (to scale the catalog without chaos)
- Unified checkout — even with multiple partners in the cart, the customer submits one consolidated order
-
For buyers
Fast product discovery, accurate pricing by region, simple checkout, and delivery point selection.
-
For partners/manufacturers
Easy catalog management, regional availability and pricing control, order processing, inventory/availability management, dashboards by region/category/top products, and team roles with permissions.
Business Challenges
Developing a marketplace for building materials isn’t just about putting a catalog online — it’s about handling operational and regional complexity without breaking trust.
- Digital operations from scratch
Transitioning from offline retail to a digital building materials marketplace required new processes, user flows, and team roles — defined and designed during delivery.
- Regional pricing + massive catalog complexity (risk: pricing mistakes = lost trust)
Different regions needed different assortments and prices. Partners also had to manage a large catalog with deep technical attributes and filters — without slowing onboarding or creating data quality issues.
- Multilingual support + localization (risk: fragmented content and specs)
The platform needed robust localization of categories, descriptions, and technical specifications.
- Flexible payments, contracts, and accounting (risk: broken payment flows)
Partners used different contract types affecting prepayment rules and payment routing. Some accounting decisions were still evolving, requiring flexibility in the system design.
- Logistics readiness + transparency (risk: fulfillment friction later)
The platform needed automatic calculation of total weight and dimensional weight at product and order level — to enable accurate delivery pricing and predictable fulfillment.
- Partner team and role management (risk: operational bottlenecks)
Manufacturers needed multiple users with permissions to separate responsibilities across orders, products, and analytics.
- Performance, load, and SEO (risk: slow pages = lost traffic and conversion)
The marketplace had to stay fast under heavy traffic and large data sets, with strong SEO foundations for product pages.
- Competitive market expectations (risk: weak UX slows adoption)
GOST needed a modern, trustworthy experience that works for both partners and end customers.
Our solution
We built GOST as a marketplace engine designed for scale, operational clarity, and customer trust — combining Marketplace Development Services and best practices in Ecommerce website development. The solution is grouped into five core blocks.
- Partner onboarding and catalog operations (built for large volumes)
To make catalog growth manageable, we created two separate import flows:
Each import includes partner guidance, real-time import status tracking, and downloadable error reports with explanations — helping partners correct data quickly and keep the catalog clean.
- Regional pricing and availability management (accuracy by design)
Admins and partners can manage:
- Regions of operation
- Regional product availability
- Prices per region
This ensures customers always see correct localized catalogs and costs.
- Customer experience that stays simple (despite marketplace complexity)
- Three-level catalog structure and robust filtering for fast product discovery
- Unified checkout: customers place a single consolidated order even when buying from multiple partners
- Google Maps integration to select delivery points
- Flexible payment logic that fits partner contract models
We implemented payment options based on partner settings, including:
- prepayment vs full payment
- payment of outstanding balances in the customer dashboard
- adaptable routing logic to support partner contract differences
- Growth-ready foundation: SEO, performance, monitoring, and quality control
To ensure the marketplace could compete and scale, we delivered a production-grade foundation:
- Next.js (TypeScript) with SSR for fast loading and stronger SEO indexing
- Structured data (schema.org) for products, prices, and inventory
- Load testing with k6, plus database migration to a dedicated server, SQL/index optimization, caching, and PostgreSQL tuning
- Monitoring and alerting with Prometheus + Grafana + Alertmanager (Telegram)
- Error monitoring via Sentry, and automated code quality checks via SonarQube
